I want to show you something: It’s the beautiful Advent Calendar for America that our thoughtful members of Congress and the president are working on for us. Isn’t it great? They’re stitching this calendar together with the stimulus bill, health care and the climate change bills.
Just sunshine and lollipops for you and your children.
As with all Advent Calendars, this one comes with the windows you can open up and find special surprises or goodies underneath. Let’s take a look at some of those surprises and goodies right now.
Here’s one from the House health care bill: Potential jail time if you don’t have health insurance! Nancy Pelosi defended that portion of the bill; there has to be some way to force everyone to have health care, right? But wait, I thought there was only gooey goodness in this bill? Maybe that’s the only thing we wouldn’t necessarily want.
No, because here’s a hidden income tax increase. What? Yes, buried in Nancy’s bill is a provision that will partially repeal tax indexing for inflation. That means that for the young adults who voted for Obama’s hope and change — believing that it wasn’t your taxes he was going to raise — you’d all better hope that your income doesn’t change for the rest of your life, because you’ll find yourself paying the evil rich tax rates.
But OK, there can’t be any other nasty surprises in Sunshine and Lollipop Land? Uh oh, subsidies for veterinarians. What? We all love our pets, but is this a priority when we’re teetering on the brink of economic disaster?
Here’s something buried in the stimulus package that passed last spring — you know the one we had to pass in about 15 minutes or dogs and cats would wind up sleeping together?
Oh boy: Your medical treatments will be tracked electronically by a federal system. That was in the stimulus bill? Yes. That will make everything very convenient.
But, a new bureaucracy, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology (that doesn’t sound ominous at all) will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective.
Oh, and Medicare, which now pays for treatments deemed safe and effective, changes to also apply a cost-effectiveness standard set by the federal council. But, stop with your death panel talk — that’s crazy!
Hold it! This is Congress’s Sunshine and Lollipop Land — this can’t be! Good thing we have that planet-saving climate change bill coming up, huh? Well, let’s take a peek under this window — oh my, if passed, gas prices will rise by 58 percent and the average household electric rates will increase by 90 percent.

What is this, a broccoli lollipop? Hey, we’re just getting started. Because the climate change bill also creates a vast new energy welfare program. It requires the secretary of Health and Human Services to provide monthly cash payments to low income households for their estimated “loss in their purchasing power” resulting from higher energy prices under the bill. It covers about 65 million people.
How many doors and windows do we have to open before you see that this is not the world they’re creating?
Look, I don’t know why no one else will tell you the truth about these things. All I know is, that they are all there — embedded in these bills — in plain sight.
Barack Obama and Congress are selling you a bill of goods. It’s only when you take down the mask of sunshine and lollipops that you see the real thing: destruction. These bills are creating the path to destruction. As I’ve said all along, they must not pass in any form. You don’t compromise on your destruction; you avoid it entirely.
